Default $ 5.00 Moving Sale Find

Just happened to see a moving sale on the way down the road today.

Saw this and was told the FIRM price was $5, I asked if it included a bag of charcoal for that price.

I was quick to pay and leave before any suggestion from onlookers might have raised the price.

Date code puts it at a 1998, with very little rust and only a few dings.

Keep up the great posts and I will post some pics after cleanup.

Kevin

A little caked on ash and typical rust on the grates, but all in all a good rescue.

I have really enjoyed this thread and wanted to contribute and not just sit by and watch everyone else have all the fun.

Wood handles are a little rough, but I will see if I can bring those back.

awesome deal. as a headsup, the legs are installed incorrectly. the leg without wheels should be in the same direction as the bowl handle. bet this cleans up nicely !

@ mbshop

Realized that as soon as I went to move it. it was in the 30's here and just pulled it out of the truck and threw the legs on for photos.

Thanks and good catch.

if you are looking for good wood handles, fellow brethren Marty Leach makes just those and customizes them to how you want them. i have never gotten them or dealt with Marty personally but i have read plenty of posts of people who have and it seems you cant go wrong with his wood handles. i have seen pictures of them and they are truly a work of art

Default score!

I've had an OTG for a couple of years now. Learned just about everything I know about smoking on her. However, I could not pass up the chance to pick up a performer at clearance price ($199). I am very impressed with the performer burner. I had imagined it would just be a lazy yellow flame, but in reality it is quite the rocket. As an added fringe benefit, I use my performer all the time to start a chimney of fuel for my UDS.

Weber Redneck firepit!

This is what I plan to do with my donor Weber. It kind of feels like a waste to do this to a Weber. Well I got it free and I have plenty of other grills.

I plan to do the same with a old weber base that I have.

Nice grab at 199. But where those hubcaps be? The Weber package people forgot to include them?

I have a 22.5'' Black kettle my wife bought me almost 15 yrs ago & I still use it to this day. The only bad thing is the front handle is pretty much toast from wear & tear & the 2 good windstorms that knocked it over this year (that also bent he leg a bit). I also rescued an old Redhead that has all metal handles & no legs that some gal saw most wanted post on CL & she was selling it for $5. I originally wanted it for a UDS lid but don't know if I can do it! Search for another one I guess.

I'm naming this kettle Humpty Dumpy.
Installed the new one-touch cleaning system and ash catcher ring I ordered from Weber. Cleaned everying with 00 steel wood, even the bowl and lid. The steel wool worked good, thanks "swamprb" for the tip. Did not scratch the finish, like I thought it would. I had a few parts from old kettles and I used the best of them for the assembly, like wheels and legs.

Looks like the King's Horses and the King's men put Humpty Dumpty back together again. That baby will last you another 20 yrs.

Always good to see another Weber brought back to life. Better here than the scrap yard.

Fixed up this old 3 vent weber kettle. Had to replace the ash pan, both handles and the 3 bottom vents. With the 3 vent bowl, I can use this with my IQ 110. It was another weber that had been abused.

I can touch up the rusty spots with some black paint when spring arrives.

I forgot to install it in the pic. The missing hubcap is sitting on the plastic adirondack to the left. Camouflaged no?
