Default Anyone here used one of these...

Lodge Logic L410 Pre-Seasoned Sportsman's Charcoal Gr... http://amzn.com/B00022OK2A

Wondering if this would make a good "searing" machine for steaks??

I'm 61 (just for reference) and remember dad cooking on these when I was a kid of 8-9 in Hawaii. Don't know if they were "Lodge" but we had an identical unit anda nother that was about 1ft square everybody called a "hibatchi". AWSOME hot searing for steaks & dad used them for treyaki beef & chicken skewers! Been thinking of buying one of these new one just for nostalga.

Didn't mean to get you so fired up... I cook quite a bit. And yes, got lots of great steak advice. Will be applying a couple of pointers this week. Regarding the chicken rub question yesterday... I have tried a LOT of different rubs... Just looking for a new flavor recommendation, that's it. Not sure about the "best ribs" statement. Anyway, sorry to be an irritant.

Post some of your creations, then ask. We want to help. BBQ isn't learned from a recipe.....it's learned by doing.

When doing burgers, yes, absolutely! I also like to use high fat ratio ground beef......the cheapest kind...lol... But they always come out great and very flavorful.

Looks real cool, but for that price you could get a weber smokey joe and do much much more with it then that.

Yes, this is very true, as I also have a Smokey Joe. But the cast iron hibachi is such a fun cooker you'll have more fun cooking with it.
Also, my friends love the hibachi whenever I bring it out for a cook.

I could see myself buying one of those if I lived in an apartment, or maybe to add to my camping cookware. Looks simple and straight forward. Probably works just fine.
