Final contest for the year for me is Dover. $20K in prizes is sweet, but even winning a few bucks for gas would be cool too. I'm just looking forward to the event based on what others have told me.

I know Pigheaded will be there, not sure yet about Sledneck... anyone else ?

At New Holland, I heard rumors of anywhere from 48-120 teams signed up. my guess is 48 signed up already with a max of 120 team capacity. Can anyone confirm ?

I will be going with my wife as she spends a few days in the hotel & casino relaxing & celebrating her birthday. Will arrive Thursday afternoon & park the trailer in the hotel parking lot until contest check-in Friday AM. Obviously in late Oct, the weather can be a crapshoot, but are there any other activities at the contest ? Bands ? Vendors ?
Anything to keep my wife from spending too much cash at the hotel/casino and mall while I'm cooking....as the hotel bill is enough !! After contest ends Sat afternoon, we will spend the evening at the hotel/casino for her birthday and go home in the AM.

We'll be there again this year, Heard from Tom Christine at New Holland at that time there were 38 teams confirmed so far. They had all kinds of things going on last year on saturday, Octoberfest , world's largest crab cake, different kinds of dancing, just remember seeing hula dancers. Good size car show down on pit road. I definately remember it being extremely windy friday all and day and night. The casino usually had a concert friday night you can buy tickets for. Its a great event overall, Fred Bohn from the casino and his crew take good care of everyone. Stop by and say howdy, We'll be flying our Dale Sr. flag.

We'll be there. It's less than an hour away for us, but I like your idea about getting there Thurs nite. Nothing yet on their site about other events, and a friend who was in their car show last year has not heard anything about it either. I heard about a hundred teams so far.

I also had heard over a hundred teams and also 38 teams, so I called to find out.

I spoke with a representive from Dover this week and she said that so far they have 50 confirmed teams. She said that they expect more.

Yeah 20K is posted right on their website. We'll be there late morning/early afternoon friday, think last year it was alittle over six hrs for us.

Dover

I had been emailing Melinda and she told me as of 8-24, there were about 50 teams registered so far.
We'll be there. We're bringing our camper there and I was told that we could park on Thursday night in the parking lot- has anyone done this before?
**Yes, we are up at 6:00 am (actually, 4 am) on a Saturday, at a friend's house, with a brisket on the smoker for a party. - whose idea was this anyway?

Hotel rooms in dover

Just a heads up, if you are going to dover and want a hotel room for saturday night, book now, most hotels are already full, its Homecoming weekend. We just got booked. Just thought I'd pass it along.
