What kind of injector do you use?

I'll never again use a syringe that you had to draw manually. The Spitjack and the like are way too much work and over priced. I use an automatic 5ml syringe that tube feeds right from your injection bottle. These cut your injection time by 2/3 and can utilize disposable needles as small as 20 gauge, which leaves virtually no puncture mark.

Anyone who has seen my system knows what I'm talking about.

Pretty cool injector Todd! So you use standard veteranary needles, and not the closed end, multiple hole ones?

spitjack with full set of needles. About 2 years old, works like new

I got the spitjack a couple of Xmas's ago and have been using that, I love it. Also another syringe type manual injector is the one from Butcher BBQ. They are only $2 ea.

Started with the Cajun Injector, threw mine away after last year I discovered the vet syringes sold by Butchers, as mentioned by Smokin Hoggz. Those are pretty nice and you cant beat the price. But then Todd introduced my to the tube-feed automatic syringe. WOW is all I can say, these things rock. Since he let the cat out of the bag, I will say that I found mine here:

These guys also sell individual leur lock needles with aluminum hub. Most vet places only sell needles in boxes in of 100. Here's the 18ga needles Todd mentioned earlier:

I work in a doctors office so have plenty of access to large gauge needles and 50ml syringes. But a pepper flake always clogs it, leading to enormous frustration. Think a spit jack is in this guys future.

Yup, very good point. These vet type injectors will not work if there is any particulate in your injection. Though I can't speak for the Spitjack on this, I will say that I always had issues with the Cajun injectors as well with particulate jamming up the needle. YMMV.

I have spit jack the clear plastic tubes have cracked so many times I'm just sick of it. They used to replace them for free but now charge. I tried this injector recently and love it. It has big holes [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Cajun-Injector-Deluxe-Marinade/dp/B00005NUVV"]Amazon.com: Cajun Injector Deluxe Marinade Injector: Sports & Outdoors[/ame]

I really like the green injectors sold at Cabela's. They look they regular cheap injectors(~$10) you might find at a BBQ store(not the cajun but the heavier duty one's). They seem to hold up much much better. They aren't on Cabela's website for some reason but they are in the KC store upstairs.

I do like the idea of the automatic draw one's. I might have to try one of them. Thanks!

I was likely going with the MABBA one to support a Brethern, but I stumbled upon this site - anyone have experience?

Not an automatic feed injector but the big ones can hold up to a gallon of liquid and it can pass particulars liked miniced garlic, ground pepper, etc....

Those auto feed ones would be great for whole hog or something, but for just a couple of butts, a gallon is more than enough capacity.

Anyone with experience?

Depends on the job. I'm typically not injecting a case of pork butts at a time. I'm injecting 32 oz in a couple of butts. In contest situations, I want to control the amount of fluid in the injection site. I also want to damage the product as little as possible. This doesn't look like the right tool for the job for what I'm doing.

That's what you have to think about when making your selection. Is this a mass cook? Is it the occasional home cook? Is it a competition cook? Based on the answer, I think that is where you draw your conclusion on what to buy from the options offered.

For the occasional home cook, I'd go cheap.
