Default 1st Annual BBQ in the park, LaPorte City IA

Hats off to the Brethren teams that walked yesterday in the 1st BBQ in the park here in LaPorte City IA.
Boondoggle BBQ and Shotgun BBq both wore themselves out with three walks each and a top 10 perfomance.
Top notch work there gentlemen.
And a special thanks to KC Bobby and DM Don for letting me observe their genius up close and personal. The information and manner will go along way in helping us in our first contest this fall. What a couple of cool customers ("Hey Don, it's 15 after, think you ought to get started on them briskets?")
Thanks Guys,
ModelMaker

Thanks, great weekend. Three calls and hearing Boondoggle four times was nice.

Ed, good seeing you again. It was good to have ya sit in with us during turn ins. Yeah, sometimes it's stare at the smoker and wait as long as possible. Hope you picked up a tip or two for your first comp in Independence.

Short storm Saturday night but other than that we had a nice breeze and stayed cool - thankfully we were under a nice shade tree.

Based on some of the teams that showed up, Roy Porter put more then his fair share of time into making sure this competition was not just a one year show. Props to him and the rest of the Lions for putting on a great inaugural comp. Look forward to next year, we didn't notice any issues, and I'm guessing the W'loo/LaPorte weekend is going to end up being one of the bigger BBQ weekends in IA for years to come.

How bout Rod showing up with his stick burner and taking t2o Grands in one weekend? Big Mo got a RC and a 3rd, not shappy either.

Good times, see ya Iowan's in Waucoma in 2 weeks!

All in all it was a good weekend. Nice calls Bobby and Don. Back to back wasnt as bad as I thought it might be. It was nice to make correction right away instead of waiting a week or more.

Buster, I see you're in serious contention for IA chicken team! 2nd, 4th, 5th and a 6th so far. How many more IA comps you got?

Thanks for all the congrats. Pretty impressive to see Pellet Envy, Lotta Bull, Smokeys D's, and other former GC's in La Porte first time event. Roy really did a great job on this contest, too bad it rained Sat night everyone really seamed to be having a good time. Modelmaker your welcome back any time, normally its not that crazy for turn ins, we had a lot of extra guests around and they wanted to know what was going on. I would be the same way. Bob does a great job keeping us on task and helping me with my turn ins, I could never get ribs ready without him. Its so messy. I try to stay out of his way, he has got pork down and is on the right track with chicken. I've had 2 bad rib turns in a row now, time to get that straightened out, normally that my strongest meat. Looking forward to cooking in Waucoma, our parents are from there so will have plenty of family around.

I have 2 more left in Iowa and one in Nebraska. Wish I could do a few more.

I agree with you guys. Roy did a fantastic job. For the size of that park to get so many teams and not feel like you were on top of each other was great. And power, water, ice, etc.

PS..Don, was in Sam's Club last week. Not the same without running into you there.

Buster Dog, my apologies in not tooting your horn as well. Your day was as good as everybodys. I didn't know you were a Brother. I will make it a point to look you up next contest and introduce myself.
