Default Suggestion for future vote threads

I think we have seen today the great influx of interest into the throwdowns and voting due to several reasons. Aside from the fantastic entries from everyone and the diverse nature of them all, I really think having the vote thread end on Saturday afternoon/evening benefits the entire process. And, as Al was smart enough to initiate, having a thread in Q-talk really drives people to check out the vote thread and throwdowns in general. Just my thoughts.

Actually, having it end Saturday evening was just a function of my laziness,... errrrr travel and work schedule actually. This is the first vote thread I've done and it just asks how many days to keep the vote going, not an actual time to end. I didn't post until Monday evening. We used to regularly get over 100 votes until we were sub-forumed. When that happened, I think we got lost. I think most of the voting is due to Mongo's advertising. We need to keep that contract going.

Having the vote end on a Saturday makes sense. More "advertising" in Q-Talk makes sense. Maybe we should start the voting on Mondays, so it will end on Saturdays. It is worth thinking about.

Of course, we'll have to count on Redhot to do the official thinking, because deguerre will be too farked up to understand any of this.

Yeah, I think it is a combination of having the whole Saturday to allow people who may not be on here as much during the week to get exposure as well as a Q-talk thread that promotes the voting.

I second having the vote end on Saturday and promoting and bumping the vote reminder in Q-Talk on a regular basis. I think if we started the reminder thread the day the vote began, and bumped it at least once a day we would see these kind of results all the time. I also think it would get more people involved. I know that I didn't even know about the TD's for quite a while after I signed up.

I think voting through later on Sat. would be a good idea. There are many times I look at the vote thread during the week, think "no way can I decide this now" - usually due to the fact that I'm at work and need to save my mental energy for quality posting in WP.

I will occasionally wake up on Sat. morning and go because I missed a vote. Actually I do other things first - I don't actually open my eyes in the morning and immediately think about the TD vote thread. I lay in bed and think about how cool it would be to have a jet pack.

I like the Saturday vote also.

As for advertising in Q-talk, repost your TD entry (as some do) there. Also, follow the instructions on putting a link to the TDs in you sig. Here is grillman's post.

Good ideas guys and gals!

Mongo's mention in Q-Talk got me to vote. I might even give it a shot sometime.
