Default BBQ Sauces

I search the internet all goo goo eyed looking at the huge selection of different sauces, some sweet, some hot and on and on, and they all say that their sauce is the best With all the pitmasters that are on this website, and they were to be asked, which one's, lets say the top five would be the best all around sauce that would be there recommendination.

Shoot! You'll get five from everybody -- with a few dupes.

For me:

Blue's Hog
Rudy's
Sonny's Sweet (regional)
Fred Fleming's Mustard Sauce
My Homemade Brisket Sauce

**Runner up: Parrothead's homemade!
**'nother: Dreamland

I was kinda afraid of that, so I was going to take the ones that come up most often, and pick from those. But these guys are winning competitions and they have to be using a premium sauce. It is impossible to try out every sauce, $hit there are more farking sauces that Carter has pills, or something like that.

For the competitions, i make my own sauces that day.
Rare that i use a bottled sauce aside from blues hog, dreamland or doctored up KC masterpiece, then again there is Dreamland.... or maybe you should Try dreamland.. or this website has a good sauce www.dreamlandbbq.com..

did I mention Dreamland?

made a sauce tonight out of honey, guiness, jack daniels, lots of red pepper, cinnamon sticks, some of those sweet jalepeno lookin peppers you get at costco and a little tomato paste and a touch of mustard and cider vinegar. Definately has potential.. gonna keep workin on it tomorrow. (yes greg, i am writing it down).

Has anyone heard of "Big Bob Gibson-Champion Red" sauce? Blues Hog seems to come up the most here, I ordered some two months ago, and still have not received my order.

Blue's Hog comes up a lot because it's good and "we" have been passing it around in trades/gifts for a couple of years.

The "winning sauce" at competition is usually frp, SAUCE COMPETITION like at AR - the sauce used on meat turn-in is NOT necessarily what is used on your table. Most sauce used on turn in food is doctored to sweeten, add flavor enhancers, add glisten etc. - taste is important but you DON'T want the judges focusing on the sauce and not the meat.

Just my $.02 worth.

First, in defense of Bill Arnold, his PC went down and he lost all of his outstanding order info. Second, Bill opened a resturant that has taken off even more than expected. I hear an hour to hour and a half wait on the weekends to get in.

If you PM myself or either one of the Belly Bros or JT, I'm sure one of us can get some Blues Hog coming your way.

Solid

JT copped me a bottle of Show Me this weekend.

Markbet,

Join the Sauce Trading club in the Trading Post Forum. We've only been doing it 2 rounds, but you can latch on to some great sauces that aren't necessarily available nation wide.

Let your own taste buds decide whats best for you.

Me, I like

Montgommery Inn
Robinsons Brown Sugar
Ditka's Real BBQ Sauce
Parrotheads Homemade
Hecky's Original

Now I purposely ommited Blues Hog and Dreamland. I have had so much Dreamland in the past 2 years, that I need a break. Good for pulled pork, but after a couple cases in a year, I need to slow down. And the Blues Hog is so sweet that my teeth fall out when I eat it. Damn good stuff, but I prefer Blues Hog Rub with no sauce. Saves the dentures.

We like this one, and haven't bought any sauce since finding it. It does get better if you let it age for a couple days in the fridge.

We've converted friends with it!

Be suspicious of a white sauce.
