Chicken Question
Hey Everyone,
I want to smoke up some chicken parts tonight. I've done whole chickens before, but never just the parts themselves. I bought a few thighs and a few legs and a couple of boobs. Can anyone give me a rough idea how long they would take to cook and at what temp should I have the cooker going at?......Thanks. Dan |

I like to marinate my chicken parts overnight in Italian dressing.
Rub them down a bit & smoke at 250* for about 3 hours. I'll then either glaze them and smoke for another half hour or I'll put them in a alum. pan with some sauce for about half an hour. Internal temp about 175*

Dan,
Wings takes about an hour and a half in my smoker, I would add 2 hours for the breasts, thighs somewhere in between.

I've been smoking chicken halves at 350 plus. The 4th place bird me and GrumpysQ turned started at 350 and we took it close around 450*. It was brined overnight.

Newmans Own Olive Oil and vinegar and some your rub, overnite. guarateed excellent chicken
btw, please tell everyone what you are smoking with, I know a killer recipe, but it requires a smoker that can go to 225 to 440 fast, and the skin is crispy!

Follow this advice on the temps if you want good chicken... or you can deviate from it to make sub-par chicken. I hope I have stepped on some toes and made my point. High temps or just give it up entirely and go buy KFC. Oh... and be sure to play some Rose Royce. PM me if you are interested in tips to make crunchy skin. &^

Metallica is fine but decrease temps accordingly as it is music from "Hades"
