Pizza on a Backwoods Chubby ?
I'm thinking about buying a Chubby. Has anybody tried cooking a pizza in one.
Since it has a insulated box and can be used as a grill I would think it would work and you could do 2-3 at the same time. Thanks

I've never tried it, but their are some threads on the Backwoods site about making pizzas. Search for Old Dave and Pizza.

I am thinking about a backwoods, how is the chubby? I was thinking about the party myself. Any info would be great and yes I have ate pizza off of one a few years ago at a BBQ comp and it was pretty good, I have to say the eggs makes the best pizzas.

Shiz, what part of kentucky are you in? I'm just outside of Louisville, originally from Owensboro. I have a backwoods party and I absolutely love it. The best smoker I have ever owned.

I'm looking for a smoker I can use up here in NH in the winter that will hold temps better than my WSM. If it can be used to do pizza when I have a group of people over would be a bonus.

Sounds like you need a Primo, my friend. Smoke, grill, or bake year round - ceramics don't care aobut the weather!

Primo Egg bubba Keg or an insulated UDS are all good and will do the job- buta Backwoods is a quality piece. I've used the first four out in snow up to my butt and obtained pizza cooking temps. I've only watched and envied Backwoods smokers in much warmer climates. Let us know if you get one and how it works in the winter.

The XL would be perfect most of the time. It's just not big enough to feed 15-20 college kids.

The BWS Chubby is the BEST Pizza maker in the world. well maybe a bit of an overstatement, but I have used mine for just that purpose many of times.
In NEBS there are the funny thing called grilling contests and sometimes Pizza has been the category. I have used the Chubby and more often than not I have placed in the top two every time. Get yourself some ceramic floor tiles, unglazed, and line the shelf with them or one large one. You can get the internal chamber to a nice 500 degrees real easily with the proper air flow. I use a Pizza peel for placing it in and taking it out of the chubby. The use of cornmeal on the bottom of the crust is a key to taking it off the peel. It bakes up just fine, just have to watch it, because it will get away from you if your not careful. I have make your own pizza parties on my deck for guests and they love it. I am at work right now so I can not access pics, but ask any NEBS competitor about my Pizza. They will tell you!

http://www.bbq-brethren.com/forum/sh...ighlight=pizza and I've done store bought crust on pizza pans where I've done several at the same time. High temp cooks for pizza and steak on ceramics is grossly over rated in my book. Yer goal is for the food to taste good, not to see how hot you can get yer cooker and still cook on it and keep you eyebrows and arm hair.
