Default Chinese red peppers in hot sauce??

Has anyone tried adding some of these dried hot peppers (like u find them in the store) to a batch of hot sauce with your regular peppers? I typically use serrano peppers but love the spice these dried Chinese peppers have in Chinese food at my favorite buffet. If so would you blend them up with the mix after cooking or remove and discard to trash?
