Default New Year's Day story

Rained ALL DAY NYD.....so to fight the blues I decided to put a slab of spares on my beat up Weber. Didn't know exactly what or where they were going. When they finally got done close to 5... I went in the pouring rain and delivered the steaming goodies to my wife's elderly aunt's in town. One lady called my wife and said she "felt like a queen"...the other called and said she had only had "can soup" that day and it was WONDERFUL.....My point in all this is even if your not where you want to be talent wise...remember most of us cook so much we take it for granted...we love doing it...it's what we do. But ALOT of elderly folks CAN NOT grill or smoke....age has taken that from them. But what we take for granted (wonderful flavored grill /smoked food) is a true delicacy for these folks. So even if your ribs are a lil overdone (like mine were) or your burgers lack.....make an extra slab or burger sometime and take to an the "old folks".....it truly is like manna from heaven for them.....and will make you feel pretty good about yourself......thanks for bearing with me brethren......Happy Smokin....

I make several different things to bring to my wife's mother when we go to visit. Pulled pork, bean soup, split pea soup, meatloaf cooked in a muffin tin, etc. She lives alone and raves over anything we bring. I've had to adjust things like salt content but can still keep things tasty for her.

You know, I'll bet they both would still have raved if you brought them a PB&J sammich, 'cause old folks sometimes feel they've just been forgotten. The fact that it was such a delicacy was just icing on the cake for them, I'm sure. You made them feel special! (((Hugs))) to you, brother!
