Contest Announcment NEW CONTEST - "Go Hog Wild" Sheridan, Arkansas

Hello All,

I want to give you the details on a new contest in Sheridan, Arkansas, the "Go Hog Wild" Arkansas State BBQ Championship on October 5th & 6th, 2012. Sheridan is just south of Little Rock.

Each year the Grant County Chamber of Commerce produces an event called Timberfest, this being our 29th year. Timberfest includes the Arkansas State Lumberjack Championships, and now we are bringing a state cookoff championship as well.

The prize purse now stands at a minimum of $2,000 and we are hoping to add prize money as sponsorships come in. The better news is that we will only take 20 teams this year, so your odds are great if your Q is great. The event is IBCA sanctioned.

As a recovering BBQ cooker, I am the event planner, and the only one here locally who knows a darn thing about producing an event like this, so this being our first year, we are keeping it simple, small, and fun. But the Timberfest will bring in thousands of people, so you will get a lot of exposure.

FYI, this cookoff is about two weeks after Smoke on the Water in Pine Bluff which is right down the road from us. It is also the same weekend as the American Royal in KC, so most of the top teams will be there instead of here - another good reason to enter our state championsip!
