BBQ Pitmasters at Westmont, IL Red, White, and BBQ festival this year!

Looking forward to it. Got to get my registration in before they fill up, which I'm sure will happen quickly now. Scottie said they were about half full now.

I'm hoping to compete in the amateur comp - will be my first. And I was hoping to judge the KCBS comp on Sunday... glad I sent my application in early for that, too!

There could be one more big announcement . March 1st is the end if early bird registration. Spaces are limited to 72 teams. Could be less because of the Pitmasters location. I know judging is almost full. And it wont be all new judges from the CBJ class they are putting on this weekend.

Pretty amazing how far the comp has come. Lugging my Jack trophy to the village board meeting to try and sell our plans for a Memorial Day festival. I think there were 26 teams the first year. Amazing.

Any idea when the amateurs can get in on the action? The site says forms available my mid-February... but nothing yet.

I think they are holding off until space needed for pitmasters was confirmed. There is another committee meeting next Monday and will find out.

Westmont

Never been to Westmont, bu am already signed up and paid. Is it really some pretty tight quarters? Would it pay to come Thursday night? Maybe some of Favorite Illinois Brethren (FIB) will buy me a JACK DANIELS!

My trailer is 32' long pulled by a Crew Cab F350.

Jack Daniels is my American Express card, I never leave home without it. I've been thinking about towing the trailer to work thursday and parking it thursday night on my way home. The 10 minute commute from work to westmont makes this kind of a no brainer.

It is a Saturday/Sunday contest so Thursday may be a bit early.

I dont think they really want everyone coming Thursday night. I would recommend by Friday night though with a big rig. Saturday gets a bit crazed, because it does get tight the way they load teams in. Hopefully more of my ideas for loading will be utilized this year.

People actually arrive Thursday? As already said, its a Sat-Sun comp, I would think Friday would be fine, although it got crowded fast last year.

Tim, as long as you told them your dimensions on your entry, you should be ok, although with a rig that size they may have you park your truck in one of the lots after dropping your trailer

No one drops their rig off on Thursday. They are marking spots and doing the layout. I bring my rig over that night because I have to park in my spot or Addington gives it away on me!
