I made a new sauce tonight and it turned out pretty good. The family loves it.
I got the recipe from someone and modified it a bit.
It's thick and sweet with just a bit of bite at the finish and a hint of twang. It doesn't really look like it in the pics, but it has a deep mahogany color.
Next time I may add some corn syrup to add more of a glossy finish and potentially cut back on the worcestershire.
I'm going to keep playing with it a bit because this really has potential. I'm going to see how this does in a comp this year.
Give it a shot and see what you think.
After you make it let me know if you think it needs something or take away something. Maybe we can work it into something really really good.
1/2 cup cider vinegar
1 (6-ounce) can tomato paste
1/4 cup worcestershire sauce
1/2 cup honey
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon molasses
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon mustard powder
3/4 teaspoon granulated garlic
3/4 teaspoon granulated onion
1/2 teaspoon allspice
1/2 teaspoon dried sage
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Throw it all in a pot and simmer for about 15 minutes or so.
