Time to revisit a few things. QTALK AND WOODPILE
Folks, as cabin fever comes to a close, we need to reinfoirce a few things with some gentle reminders. The mod team has noticed a bit of an overwhelming spread of jibberjabber across the entire forum. Time to realign.. Threads in OnTopic forums are getting wrecked and its becoming difficult to glean good information outside of an overwhelming amount of Offtopic nonsense. We should not have to scrub threads as often as we do.
1 - QTALK is an OnTopic forum. That means that we keep the BS and hijacks to a minimum. Recently, more and more 'whackadoodledry' has been appearing in Qtalk.. We need to curtail this now. The occasional poke or jab at a bud is still the norm, it keeps things light, but blatent derailment of the thread is not.. So, this is a gentle warning to keep Qtalk Ontopic and hijacking VERY limited. If it continues, we move to zero tolerance for BS and banter and thats no fun. 2 - Woodpile: GENERAL DISCUSSION. a - ANY topic is open in woodpile. Some topics may be considered 'NEWS' but will be allowed to stay as long as they dont get heated, emotional or controversial. b - Just because its in Woodpile, there is No requirement to trash it. Although there is limited moderation, we do see posts in there looking for information on things NOT bbq related, and where a fellow member wants to have a normal conversation and get your feedback. Please be cognizant of this and avoid totally destroying a thread to the point the OP just abandons it and gives up, sometimes walking away form our forum completely. http://www.bbq-brethren.com/forum/sh...ad.php?t=25514

This is getting out of hand. These are the guidelines that we use when moderating. We have been a little lax in following these but that changes now.
For the ON TOPIC forums, the 3 post rule applies to hijacking. 1 off topic post - it stays 2 off topic posts - it's warned 3 off topic posts - its split if the new topic has merit for discussion or the off topic posts are scrubbed For Woodpile, IF THE ORIGINATOR IS TRYING TO HAVE A REAL DISCUSSION, the thread will be kept on that topic. Woodpile is GENERAL DiSCUSSION. Not every thread is a candidate for whackadoodling.

I know man....I wonder what 'drama' we missed out on.
(hopefully we're not hijacking this thread)

no drama. We are just seeing a little too much BS and whackadoodling going on in Qtalk and in some cases, WP 'discussion ' type threads that are looking for legit info and not banter. We are concerned that as new members arrive, they may see that and think its the acceptable norm, which its not. We think its better to offer gentle reminders occasionally than to let it get so bad we have to come down hard with the moderating.

On a side note, its refreshing that I am no longer the asshat that keeps doing this over and over.
But I do miss the calls from Phil with the message of "KITFO" (Knock It The **** Off)
