BKBBQ aka Largetime.net got it's first walk in KCBS comp for a 8th place pork!!!! Happy for that, but really thought the chicken and ribs would have placed better. Congratulations to everyone that got a call.
 
Bubba had a piece of paper towel in his pork box...and to add insult to injury his 5th wheel popped out of the hitch when he pulled away to leave and the trailer dropped on his truck bed and tailgate. Bad day for him.

Congrats to Rob however!
 
Congrats to the walkers!!!! Hard contest with the rain and then the heat! Not the best of conditions.

It was indeed a papertowel in Bubba's box. BOY was that a hubbub in the judges room! We didn't know who's it was, but we're just not used to seeing anyone DQ'ed. Didn't find out until MUCH later that it was Bub-Ba-Q's. He was on a roll too! Probably could have vied for the GC or RC!

Congrats to Mike! Man does he have a fine looking rig!
 
That's a shame.
I have known Bubba since 2006 and competed against him many times.
I have never heard of such a problem for him.
He is like a "cooking machine".
Looks like he had the GC going on--I didn't add the numbers, but 3 top fives with a tie for 1st in Chicken should have done it with any decent pork score.

But, stuff happens.

I was there cooking in the Backyard...3rd in ribs....so I am happy. Conditions were not real fun with the 2" of rain in 2 hours then the 98 degrees, but still a great time. Tried some vending for the first time and I think I would rather stick to focusing on the competition. I do have a question...my pork cooked for 12 hours, 220ish, but never hit 190 internal, even after wrapping for 2 hours, I am wondering if I need to go up to 250 cook temp? I never had that happen before.

Yes if Bubba would have scored 164 or better in pork he woulda won Grand. I can honestly say I hated to hear his named called knowing he was DQed in Pork. TO the previous question. We like to cook at 250 but there is more than 1 way to skin a cat.

we got our first kcbs call and it was in pork.just what i needed for a little confidence boost our chicken is improving also.we may go to gaffney this weekend just to try it again.
