Contest Results Chandler AZ BBQ Throwdown (IBCA)

Way to go to all the walked sure was a good one Thanks to Mike and Tom you have done it again way to go. If you get a chance to come to an Arizona contest that is put on by these guys I'm sure you will not be disappointed. They know how to do it right. See yall in Scottsdale

Another aspect of this contest was the support it generated for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Arizona. Several teams had kids from the Compadre Branch of B&GC who came out on Saturday morning to work with the teams. We were ably assisted by a fine young man named Andreas, and we put him through the paces and shared some of our enthusiasm for BBQ. We walked him through the final preparations and boxing of the four meats, and he vended People's Choice alongside our younger son, learning about customer service and dealing with the public. In the few minutes of downtime we had, we chatted about his interests, career goals (chef, or possibly law enforcement) and schooling. Andreas led our team on walks when our name was called, and got more and more excited with each category! He was so very proud to take the category trophies home with him, to eventually reside in the Compadre Branch's trophy case. It was a great day for us all, and I hope he'll remember it as long as we will.

Yes - this was a great event. Thanks to Mike and Tommy for all the hard work they do and the Boys and Girls Club helpers who did an amazing job. Special thanks to all the teams who had the B & G Club members into thier "homes" and made them feel welcome! You guys did great. Congrats to Sweet Peppers and RNQ for GC and RGC. You guys Rock! Hope to see you all in Scottsdale in a few weeks.
