Several years ago I ate at Caldwell's BBQ in St. Pete Beach, FL where they had marginally acceptable BBQ but outstanding baked sweet potatoes. One half a sweet potato or yam was served with the skin still on in foil. They were sweetened with what seemed like brown sugar with butter and were caramelized, probably by broiling after they were baked and cut in half.

The sweet potatoes/yams were the best I ever had. I kick myself for not trying to get their recipe before they closed down.

Does any one have a recipe for anything like this? I am going to try duplicate them on the BGE while I am roasting the chicken tomorrow.

Thanks for the info. I knew that they are different, but it was so long ago that I didn't remember what one they served.

try this...
sweet potatoe or yam either is fine
cook, bake, grill it all works....
split in half and add
real butter, not margarine or tastes just like...
shot of maple syrup as in log cabin or aunt...
sprinkle of cinammon
let rest for a few minutes until ooze
and enjoy
