Talking Info on BBQ Rigs

Who builds the best one, custom. Where are they located? Websites?
Costs shipping and location are not a problem.

Why does a backyard smoker bum like me pose this question?
Answer: I have a wealthy family member who(inspired by my Q) thinks he needs one of these contraptions for the tailgate parties at the usc game.

Personaly, I think its a huge waste of money and time(his money, my time). Of course I don't have his kind of money. Accordingly, he wants to order one now in hopes it would be ready for next season.

Most importantly, we're looking for someone that can build a rig with bells and whistles ie, propane auxillary burners, warmers, canopy, maybe even a kegerator if possible.

Remember, this is a man with more money than sense. Whatever info you guys have would be appreciated

We all need more relatives like him! Find one that you will be interested in and when he loses interest in it you'll be ready like a circling buzzard to take it off his hands!

I hear he's not making anymore....could be just a rumour. I'd take one in a heartbeat. They are purty..... This one belongs to Rod Gray of the Pellet Envy team from KC.

Personally I think you need to decide what you are going to do and how you want to do it. Are you going to cook whole hogs if so then you need a pit that can do that. Do you want something that can run uncheck for longer periods of time? And on and on.Think about all the detail you want and then you can whittle down the builder/companies out there.

No whole hogs. More than likely briskets, butts, fatties and Q of that nature.

We're looking for several features: Side burners for chili, log/charcoal bin, propane tank holder, small kegerator holder, maybe some extra carrying space.

Spice's 'Team Q' cooker is a good example of one with room for LOTS of stuff... Jay probably has some good pics of all the tent storage, and the nice closet in the nose...Jay? It is a georgous unit.

This one had room for a kegerator under the stainless counter in front - CO2 mounts in one of the cabinets..... Propane starter, etc. all on board also.
custom trailer.jpg
It is from KCK BBQ Smokers on Jim's list. (www.kck.com)

or if you look at some of the Olde Hickory / Southern pride concession/catering rigs... WOW.

I like the rotisserie cookers myself. Jim's list has them all.... so just look through all those web pages and drool away!

Dave Klose can, and will build you anything you can afford. I suspect Spicewine can do the same thing, and he does beautiful work that you can appreciate even more when you see it up close. Hard to go wrong with either of those choices.
