Actually, she likes the stuff. I didn't know they even sold it, but she reminded me of using it for escargot several years back. She just loved the excuse to get some and grabbed six tubes (once we located them). She has no end of ideas as to what to make for this one. Meanwhile, I'm still struggling with Pub food!

Unfortunately, couldn't find that brand, but did turn up some porterhouses as a sort of consolation though.

Multiple dishes are allowed (even encouraged) to be posted in the Throwdowns...BUT...since this is not a "Special" category (they have different rules) only ONE entry is allowed to go into the voting thread. So please state which entry you want submitted for voting, or else i have to pick and I hate doing that in case I pick wrong. Seriously, do you trust me to pick a winning entry? I do have that amazing winning streak you know!

I assume you can make a few different items and show them on the same plate (or photo), for instance, a chicken-pocket sandwich with a cup of lime-tofu sorbet....not that I was planning to do such a thing. In my mind the entry must include the four items, but the entry can include multiple components -- at least that is how I see it. Perhaps Bob can clarify.

Yes, in truth, it's one photo from one dish as the entry. Here is the exact rule:

5. Only one picture from one dish will be used for voting, so please specify which one you want used, otherwise I will choose and my decision will be final.

Thus, if you make multiple dishes (say on separate days) and have two pictures, you have to pick one. If you make a bunch of different items on one day, and assemble them together as one meal and take on picture of them all together (tapas as an extreme example) then that still counts as one entry. A collage of various dishes however would violate this rule.

In case anyone is wondering why this rule exists, there were people who said they would participate in Throwdowns if contestants were limited to entering one dish. They felt it was unfair for people with enough time to enter multiple dishes and thereby get a better shot at winning. I put the issue up to a vote, and the votes fell in favor of limiting contestants to one entry. For the Special Throwdowns, I allow multiple entries because I still like giving the opportunity for people to make multiple entries.

Since it is Bob's concept, he should have the final say, but, the description in the first post says...

Quote:
In this Throwdown, your dish must contain the first three ingredients plus one more ingredient that you choose from the list below.

Your dish MUST contain these 3 ingredients...
1. Chicken
2. Dough from a tube
3. Limes

AND your dish must also contain ONE MORE ingredient of your choice from the following list...
- Tofu
- Eggplant
- Peanuts
Note where is says your dish, not your entry. I interpreted that, right or wrong) as a single dish has to contain the three mandatory ingredients and one from the additional list. To me that means they must all be cooked together, not as separate dishes on the same plate or photograph.

But, I've been wrong before :)

Well, there are two kinds of Throwdowns.

The weekly Throwdowns (like this one) which is a category chosen by the winner of a previous Throwdown. These have a fixed set of rules that are the same from week to week, and I provide a link to the rules in the opening post.

Then there are "Special Throwdowns", which always have the title "SPECIAL - (category name here) Throwdown". I pick these categories, and the winners only get a certificate and possibly a prize if I ever get around to sending it to them. The winners do not get to pick the next category. They are free to suggest ideas to me, and I may or may not use that idea on the next Special Throwdown. There are special rules for these Throwdowns, and I post those rules in the opening post.

The Special Throwdowns have mostly been for Holiday Weekends (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Turkey Day, etc), with the only exceptions being the McRib and the Virgin throwdowns.

Here are the 5 Special Throwdowns we have had. All other Throwdowns were regular Throwdowns. I created these originally as a way for people to post their cooks on Holiday weekends with more open rules to encourage participation. Then Ron suggested McRibs....then ---k--- suggested the Virgin Throwdown. At this point, I figure 2011 will probably have a few special throwdowns, more than in past years, simply because of all of the ideas submitted, and in order to still have fun cooking whatever we want to cook on those holiday weekends.
