Rehab for my newe $200 CL Brinkman Cimmaron

That will take you forever to sandblast with a consumer grade sandblaster/air compressor. Not to mention that you need a proper respirator to sandblast safely. If I were you I would pay someone to blast it or get a couple of flap disks for my angle grinder and do it myself. Two good disks and an hour of your time should take care of it.

Looks great. What are the dimensions/gauge of that baffle? Did you make it?
And what kind of gasket is that on the lid?

DriverWild,
You didn't happen to buy that awhile back off craigslist did you? If so I now know what happened to the one I was looking at. Not looking rehab!

I did find it on Craigslist, was down in Bellevue. She was in rough shape but I've got her going again. I appreciate the compliment!

Had the sandblaster out today. These guys around here aren't easy to pin down. His original quote magically tripled so I had him only do the inside. Used naval jelly on the exterior and bbq paint. Looks good so far.

Threw some BBQ paint on her today. She doesn't look half bad.
Next I'll make a baffle/deflector to try and even out temps.

I found some 8"x14" !6 gauge steel at the local hardware.
Q: If I'm able to bend it to a rough L shape, would 6 or 7 inches be enough to redirect heat?
Q" Any tips for bending 16 gauge? Hardware buy said buy two pieces of angle iron and bend it over a table. He also said I can trim it with my grinding wheel. Sound plausible?
