Long haul yesterday towing the new Shirley!
Well, It took around 12 hours to get down to Shirley Fabrication on Friday from the northern burbs of Chicago. When we arrived, we met the crew and checked out the shop. I still can't believe how much cool stuff they get out of that little shop. They will be seriously rocking it out when the new building in completed. Tyler thought they'd be in it in 3 weeks.
Paul was working, but Sharon took my wife and I out to dinner. They are basically the nicest people you're ever gonna meet. We were beat and went to bed early. We were up a little before 5 and Sharon had coffee on. Paul arrived a little after 5. It was great to visit, even if it was for a short time. Paul and Sharon, thank you so much for your hospitality and opening your home to us. You are both so awesome! And you have an open invitation when you're up here. Hopefully you can make it up in June/July! We were on the road at 6:30 am Saturday. Stopped at a rest stop just outside of Birmingham. We rolled in at home just a little before 8 pm. We averaged 19.8 MPG for the trip back in the Pilot running ~70 for most of the trip back. That Shirley pulls straight and true. But that's a long haul both ways in a short time. Here's the pit. It's a modified trailer, 24 x 60 straight back with insulated firebox, 3 shelf warmer, searing station, griddle for the warmer, single burner up front, spare tire. Oh, and I got an extra rack for a hog. I need to get the EZ up out to get her seasoned and hopefully do a first cook. The rain is gonna be mess today and most of the week. I'm hoping to try a brisket next weekend Sunday.

You absolutely need to do that. They are great people! I want to come by just to see the new shop when it's done. I just wish it wasn't such a long haul!
