Looks like the ECB works pretty good. I have seen a few others using them as of late, seen some mods that have helped control temps better.

My gourmet ECB I modified and I still cook on constantly. Similar to a weber smokey mountain. And by the way, a clay terra cotta saucer wrapped in foil works great as a heat shield... Highlight pics of some mods:
