Comp Boxes...
Swamprb and I are talking about reducing the amount of crap we bring to comps. One of the items we will be re-organizing is our comp box. Since teaming up last summer we have been bringing his stuff and my stuff to each comp which is WAY too much stuff...(George Carlin Mod...).
We have a pretty good idea of what our essentials are (knives, rubs, pans, probes, timers, MSG......etc...and now we're looking for box ideas. Anyone out there have a good source, design, or idea for a decent comp box...???

I would say a chuck box is the way to go. Here are some links ranging from building your own, to buying some. Looks like Cabelas has something similar too.

Last year I put two kitchen cabinets together along with a 4' counter top on wheels... It gives us 5 drawers and a cabinet to store most of our smaller stuff and is just the right size to hold our 3 wash bins on top....
Sorry no pics so I guess it didn't happen...

Big tackle boxes seem to be quite popular.
I've also seen several folks use those plastic "dorm room" shelving/drawer boxes (the white ones with clear slide-out drawers that you see at WallyWorld) I don't like those big plastic trunk types (about the size of a large ice chest) because all your important stuff inevitibly finds it's way to the bottom.

A little small isn't it? And what's that funny thing just back of the door?
On a serious note, I am going to need to build a rolling box and I really like the idea of the wood box with drop down front to provide a small working surface. I could put the whole thing on legs and wheels so it would go into the smoker section of the trailer and I'd only need it when I do comps. And it wouldn't be too big as I'd only use it for stuff that is pure comp equipment. Rubs, etc would be part of vending so always there but secret competition ingredients would be in the Box.

Two words..... hand truck Then (in the words of Alton Brown) you won't have spent $80 on a uni-tasker (referring to the casters).

That was $20 total. There are severai wheel with break options from Harbor Freight, ranging from about $3 per wheel to $5 or maybe even $6 per wheel. You'd have to go through the size, material, and mounting type to find the right ones. I put $20 as an approximate. For less than $20 you can have a kitchen like environment that doubles as a transportation medium. I think it's kinda cool.
