Default Smoker/meat Thermo

Ok, I have dug all I care to dig!! I just can't find what I'm lookin for!
I'm in need of a new smoker/meat thermo. I have the Mav. ET-73. It didn't have enough range for me and it's been broken since I got it a year ago....I've been limping along with it since ...I am considering the Nu Temp but can't figure out from posts or their site if it has two probes (one for meat and one for smoker)....??? If not what do you nu temp users do for smoker temps???

Oh Yeah........I am not buying a thermo pen at this time so that's not an option

The Nu Temps are one probe/one sensor.. Up to three of units can be linked to a remote station that can monitor all three temps being measured and alert if any move outside of the min/max range (each can have their own range)

PS - If you do buy a Thermopen down the road, go for the blue model

Are you using one of the probes and sensors to monitor smoker temps and the others for meat ??? I kinda gathered from the site that this is what the deal was....

I've a Nu Temp with three probes. I use them on the Top Grate, Bottom Grate and Meat, or if I'm running a single shelf I pop the lower grate probe in the dome vent.

I'm really happy with them, good wireless range, accurate readings, probe cables are quite robust and Support/Customer Service is really good.

The only "issue's" are: (Not really issues as such, but improvement's I'd like to see!!)

* Can only set upper OR lower warning temp threashold alarms on each probe not both.
* The Display unit cycles through each reading rather than showing all three side by side.
* No backlight when working at night.
* No off swich on any of the units.
* No PC logging option.

Not much help here, but if you buy the Nu-Temp this link will save you a couple of bucks:

When you have a probe for the smoker... do you just lay the probe on the grate itself?

No, I ussually cut a potato in half and stick the probe thru the middle of the potato, with the potato sitting flat side down of course on the grate at food level.
