I haven't tried them, but I know a number of people who swear by using oak barrel chunks for smoking wood.

Tastes good when grilling. Wine burns out too quick when bbq'n. Then it's just oak. Oak is my #1 wood when I Q. But barrel wood is over rated IMO.

It sounds good the wine is infused in the oak ,it should give a nice flavor I just ordered some for next weekends cook a lil pricey but I give it a go thinking of trying some ribs and maby a small butt, Hey mitch do you dislike the flavor (or the lack of) or the price of the barrel wood ?
