What about the Sam's Club comps? Are they qualifiers is the state has a blanket proclamation?

Default Clarifications

Massachusetts
Greeenfield - Smokin' Hoggs
Harvard - 3 Eyz
Lexington - Fatback Joes

Harvard is out due to 3 Eyz 7ing. According to what I have previously read, a contest is considered "established" after the 1st year and needs 25 teams to qualify. Greenfield had 19. Therefore I believe Fatback Joes autos for Massachusetts.

New York
That being the case, then they are out of the NY draw. In addition, 1 bung is also removed for Good Smoke at the established contest at Brockport BBQ - Music Festival only had 17 teams.

If I am wrong, please let me know.

- Bill

Yes, but only if the state has a blanket proclamation.

Ah, a Brethren event which explains why they aren't on bbqrace.com or KCBS.

Do you think The Jack will let them use that name? If they do, you might see a lot more:

Mother Forkers
Forking Athols (from Athol, MA, of course)

no punking or punkins here
I believe it was Matt from Jacked up, sled and 2 others that I dont know. Williepalooza was not a KCBS contest but did have a NYS proclamation.
as far as the name...no comment.... awards were ... mmmm no comment

OK... that's what I thought. Any way to find out which states that is? I'm pretty sure Illinois has one.

I don't think regionals fall into that category, Ron. They are considered invitationals.

MICHIGAN

Silver Lake Apple and BBQ Festival -- Big Brothers BBQ
Auburn Hills -- Smokin Aces Crapshoot BBQ
Taste Of Grand Rapids -- Bavarian Smoke BBQ
Dam Good BBQ -- 8/10 - 8/11
Blues, Brews, & Barbecue -- 8/23 - 8/24

Michigan does not have a blanket proclamation. So the local Sam's would not count.

That's what I understand as well. Unfortunately the GC of our local Sam's Club event will not get a bung...no blanket Gov. Proclamation. At least I don't remember there being one for the event.

How about any state rep teams or does that not come into play until after the bungs are picked?
