Default Rancher charcoal score

The utah bbq association bought a pallat of 10,000 bags of the new rancher hardwood 100% natural briquettes. I bought 5 bags of it. It doesnt seem to have an off smell when its in the chimney burnung. Seems pretty clean..

What do you guys think of it??

Out here in Ca, when HD was selling it, I believe it was five a bag. Pretty sure it was about that.

Here in Wisconsin HD had Rancher at $1.99 for 20lb bags.
I bought a thousand ponds. I'm down to about 200 now.
It works great in the WSM for long cooks, but not so keen on it in a grill for quick cooks. The starch binder seems to break down and the briqs crumble real easily.

I was thinking volcano. When I used it the top of my backwoods would be a whitish-gray after about 3 hours.

I can't stand the big "K" for that reason, smells like chit when you light it... I'd take ash over tar truck smell any day of the week!
I usually use Stubbs briqs - only natural one I can get round' here. Royal Oak doesn't seem to bad either.

Just my VERY humble oppinion...

Yup.. 45$ for 5 bags. Thats how high our markup in utah is for things. I had to pay extra to cover the shipping as well i guess
