The utah bbq association bought a pallat of 10,000 bags of the new rancher hardwood 100% natural briquettes. I bought 5 bags of it. It doesnt seem to have an off smell when its in the chimney burnung. Seems pretty clean..

Out here in Ca, when HD was selling it, I believe it was five a bag. Pretty sure it was about that.

Here in Wisconsin HD had Rancher at $1.99 for 20lb bags.
I bought a thousand ponds. I'm down to about 200 now. It works great in the WSM for long cooks, but not so keen on it in a grill for quick cooks. The starch binder seems to break down and the briqs crumble real easily.

I was thinking volcano. When I used it the top of my backwoods would be a whitish-gray after about 3 hours.
