A wise man once said "Everything you take out of the trailer you gotta put back in again". Experience will show you what you really need and what you are just lugging around for no reason.

Best piece of advice I can give you is always pack up before awards. If you don't get any calls you will be disgusted and deflated, and have no energy for the job. If you do get them you'll want to be able to enjoy the moment and celebrate without having to face a pile of dirty dishes back at camp.

We just show up looking like a yard sale. Keeps the riff-raff out of our site.

And most everyone else, too.

Chris - That is a sweet set up! What brand bins are those? They appear to fit the shelving nicely.

We acquired a bunch of the top-loading double-door "shipping totes" from a friend (we didn't ask where they came from...) similar to what convenience stores and such use to get shipments. Each one gets a label top and side for what category of stuff ("Electrical / MEDICAL".. "Grill tools, Cutting Boards" etc) and they just stack. Pretty much the only thing that doesn't fit is full-size steam trays, although they might go diagonally with small items tossed in around them..

Storage is easy, since they stack - check each one for spoilables and mess (or mis-filed items) and stack them in the garage with a 50-gal drum liner over the top to keep dust/etc out of them. They aren't even remotely waterproof or anything, but they are really durable and pretty spill/bleach resistant.

We need to reorganize our packing list by tote label but otherwise its working great. (And as others said, stuff can go in coolers also. And try to avoid mixing of home/competition gear, makes packing tons faster and you don't have to worry about whether your main meat cooler got left out in the rain after the last cookout..)

Chris,

I saw those bins in a store by us, are they worth $28? I was thinking of stacking them on a flat bed wagon with the tables strapped on the front and back for transporting. I figured I could pile up more large stuff on the very top of the bins.
Have you had any issues with rain getting in the tubs since they don’t have a true lid?

Brad
