My First Prime Rib

Got a Masterbuilt 40 for Christmas and broke it in with my first prime rib. Overall I thought it went well (no complaints at dinner) but am strongly considering the AMNPS to add-on for more consistent smoke.

Other posts on the board were really helpful on preparing and cooking the roast. Also had great responses to an earlier thread asking about au jus. Thanks!

Meat came out a treat!
I would have used another vege tray, that one is way overloaded...unless you were planning on mash?
I'd love a slice of that

I certainly wouldn't complain if you served that to me. Nice job!

Do you do anything with the tray of veggies that you had under the beef? Or are they just used to add flavor while the meat is cooking?

Thanks everyone. The veggies smoked for the first hour or so to be used in the au jus. I could have done with about 1/2 of what I used.

The sides were stuffed backed potatoes, carrot souffle, and creamed spinach. My wife did a great job and the souffle was our first time trying.

I have that same smoker. I think it works well and is very convenient and easy to use.
I still get a chuckle out of the window and interior light.

BTW that is a really good looking PR and sides look great as well.

Mmmmmm . . . Prime rib on a plate makes me happy, happy, happy!
