Hi All

I am trying to build my first UDS and would like to ask a some advise. I live in Italy which ,means finding simple stuff for the UDS is not easy.

When you guys talk about temp, is it celsius ?
I going for the 4 hole at the bottem. Two caps and 2 ball valves. I want to lift the vale with a pipe. I can only find 3/4 irone pype with zinc in them. I was think that it would be ok to used them since the should not get hot at all. Am I right in thinking so ?

Thanks

Welcome to the Brotherhood. As for temp 99.9% it is fahrenheit. I'm thinking if you are using the pipes for your air intake risers it shouldn't be an issue. Like everything else though
you are going to get 50% that say Ney and 50% that say you will be fine. Make sure to put a picture up.

Temperatures referred to here are Fahrenheit. We normally use what we call "black pipe". It is mostly used for natural gas piping in our homes. I wouldn't recommend using galvanized. Good luck with your build. Post pics of your progress please.

Skip the ball valves and the risers and run one large or two medium sliding vents like in the big poppa kit or like the big green egg vent

If burning off the paint is an issue for you, I know people have taking there drums to places to have them sand blasted. Or you could use a drill and attach a wire stripper to it but that will take a lot of time and effort. Good luck on your build!!

Welcome to the hood! You will love the UDS. If you are having issues finding supplies then dont stress and pick up a big poppa kit. Really easy to put together. Post pics

I would just leave the paint alone. If it comes off after a while of using THEN do something about it.

I've tried chemical paint remover, on drums. Didn't really do anything other than waste paint remover. Cook on it a few times, and the paint may start to come off.

I'd sand it and paint over it with high temp paint.
