Angry Sorry but thermometers??

Are you guy talking about the temp inside of the smoker or temp of the meat. whats the best thermometer to use for monitoring you smoker temp. I have an ECB and I'm looking to buy on so i can get a more accurate temp of the inside of the smoker.

Don't think so as the wire will melt or sensor will open. A dial for quick reference would be most cost efficient for your use. Get one that is recalibratable. A at grate thermometer is best for use while cooking. Most can't take that high temp. A type K with a lead that can take that temp plus more will cost $$$. You can get a temp meter like Thirdeye bought from Thermoworks and get a probe like this one I bought off E-bay

I like this one alot...

http://www.amazon.com/Maverick-RediC...4360262&sr=1-2

I normally don't probe my meat and use both probes to check both sides of the the Mistress. While the signal range isn't huge, I like the fact that I can set both a high and a low temp alarm for the smoker and I can hear the alarm when it's in the kitchen.

I should say that I also have a '73' and when I do find a need to probe the meat I use it for that and the 'Redi-Check' to monitor the smoker.

ThermoWorks also sells replacement probes
that work with most Polders.
The Maverick probes are interchangeable with the Polder too.
