Hey guys,

as some of you already know, I come from Slovenia and here there is absolutely no way to find and buy BBQ rubs. Is anyone of you brethren willing to ship a sample of their rub? I would like to have a few different kinds of rubs and sauces and then decide, what works for me and order bigger quantity. I am willing to pay for shipping costs.

Cheers,

Rok Barbo

I am sure shipping within Europe itself would be much cheaper than shipping from the US...

You may want to try Don Marco's rubs from Germany, distribution is in a lot of European countries. http://www.don-marcos-bbq.de/en/produkte/rubs with didtributors in Budapest and Austria.

Also here are two European Distributors for OakRidge BBQ Rubs..

Block,

Meanwhile, have you messed around with your own rubs?

Honestly, most of my chicken and pork cooks are with some sort of
Salt
Pepper
Garlic Powder
Onion Powder
Cayenne
Paprika

Do I throw in some extra stuff? Sure, but that's the basics!

Most of the fine folks that are smoking beef brisket and beef ribs swear by Salt and Pepper... some add a little Garlic/Onion Powder.

You're in Eastern Europe... I'm in the middle of the Pacific Ocean... I get it.

I buy a couple of rubs here and there... but I make 85-95% of what I use.

Glad you're here! Keep the questions coming!

I used this on my last ribs cook:

1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/4 cup sweet paprika
3 tablespoons black pepper
3 tablespoons coarse salt
1 tablespoon hickory-smoked salt or more coarse salt
2 teaspoons garlic powder
2 teaspoons onion powder
2 teaspoons celery seeds
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper

I only substituted celery seeds for celery leaves.... Cant find celery seeds here, unfortunately... I believe it gives a distinct flavour?

It came out a little undersalted, i believe because i used too coarse ground salt.... Otherwise, it was great.
