Need a simple but good brine recipe?? I bought a fresh 10 lb turkey want to try it out on this weekend. Practice up for the Holidays. Also trying to get some apple or cherry wood from somwhere if anyone know where I could order some.

I bet both of these are awesome, because they have Old Bay in them. It's like the rub of the Chesapeake. lol

Of the brine recipes that I've tried, I've come up with a bit of a formula that can be tweaked for your own taste.

1 Gal water
1 Cup Sugar
1 Cup Salt

More often than not, I end up throwing in a can of OJ concentrate (without the calcium). Traditional turkey herbs work well. So do apples.
