Guru Probe Tip Repair

Helping a buddy break in his BGE this morning and offered my guru to him as he is trying to decide if he needs one (he does, we all do!). The food probe tip broke off in the guru. This happened before with the pit probe and I sent it back to BBQ Guru where they remove the tip from the guru, and repaired the probe by putting on a new, heavier duty tip.

The good news, I was able to get the tip out of the guru this time, but am wondering if anyone has repaired their own broken tips. Would just like to avoid the 2-3 weeks without my guru, if a trip to radio shack and some forum advice can fix me up.

I have never heard of them breaking either.

My friend even has one of the original Gurus with the analog knobs and that has had no problems ever.

I would guess if you took the old plug with you (3.5 mm) audio plug and you match it up to make sure it is exact, them all you need is a soldering iron to reconnect it.

If you don't have any experience with soldering electronics don't attempt it, just send it back.
