The last CEO was touted as the greatest thing since sliced bread. What happened to him?

All this hoopla and secrecy make me very nervous. It's like a parent looking at a kid saying "what have you done"

The secrecy doesn't bother me too much. Employment decisions always require a certain amount of confidentiality.

Could they have announce Heath leaving before they had a replacement? Of course. They also could have been in buyout negotiations that kept them from doing so, however.

The hoopla makes me wonder who it is. My guess is it's someone they think is going to be a big deal when they announce it. As long as it's someone that goes out and gets things done, I'll be happy. Hopefully someone who has had a hand in promoting BBQ and Comp BBQ in the past.

No matter what happened, or how it happened it's now a done deal.

Hopefully the new CEO is ready to wade in. I'm tempted to take up a collection for dinner at J Gilbert's if they can get that building sold before Christmas!;)

Maybe in 6 months they can get the Cooking Channel to host a reality show for the new CEO...

This cluster has reassured me in my decision to not renew my membership.

Only if it stars Myron as the one making the choice ...

Hopefully, for a lot of members this is the proverbial "last bullet in the gun"

Not a guess per se. I just hope it's someone that has experience promoting BBQ and comps. So, prominent organizers that have an "in" with major sponsors, someone who has a motor to go get things accomplished. The BOD and KCBS as a whole has been very reactionary over the years, and we need a proactive person to go out, bang the drum, and get people excited again.

Hopefully her head won't explode, the first week on the job! KCBS is a different animal. I like what I've heard about her from people that know her, and I think her background is suited to the task she has.

Emily Detwiler. Formerly with Smithfield.

EDIT:Anyone that wants to check out the announcement with Greg Rempe can see it on the KCBS Facebook page without having a Facebook account or having to log in.

While I agree with many that I am not a fan of all the secretive stuff that seems to go on, I do think that this person has a chance to be really good for KCBS. She has a strong background in marketing, branding, working with other companies on a large scale, etc. It will be interesting to see what her vision for KCBS looks like.
