I appreciate this. I am pulling the trigger on one of these soon and was already eyeballing the older model, I'd gladly shell out the extra $30 for the table and triple insulation.

Where did the information about the new model having three layers of insulation come from? I cannot seem to find any references to extra insulation on the internet. If the cooker is not any thicker, I would be skeptical of any claim that the wall structure has been modified in any way.

I checked out the new table model at HD today. The bottom vent is the same air leaker as previous models. The one thing that definately needed improvement, they didn't bother fixing at almost zero cost. Shame on Chargriller.

The top vent doesn't have numbers on it.

A new latch for the lid isn't an improvement in my opinion. I had to push down the lind fairly hard in order for it to latch.

Maybe it can be tweaked.

No difference in insulation

Nice table.

I like my old Lowes model for $60 less.

I showed them the picture and I got what I would describe as a Deer in headlights look. They said " are you sure that is a home depot?" to which I replied " You're kidding right?
I think I will try to call Char-griller today and see if they can give me the sku. If I have time and get it I will post it here.

So I did a little detective work and called Char-Griller. I was able to get both a sku and a contact number to see what stores have it. I havent called the contact number yet, but I will post both things here.

HD Sku number: 104343

Contact number to see if you local store has it: 770-433-8211.

Hopefully this will be helpful and we can see if we can pick one up.

Looks like the same wording as the original to me.

I'll see if I still have my box.

The table upgrade alone is worth the extra $30 IMO... now if they have made insulation upgrades as well...? Definitely worth it.

I love my Akorn ( Lowes version ) I do wish I had that table though.

The wording on the box says Triple Wall & Insulation. IMO this doesn't necessarily mean it's triple insulated. Anybody knows what the orginal box says?

I've said this before but I'll say it again, I don't think extra insulation is a major plus from the perspective of keeping temps under control in low n slow cooks.
