WSM or Big Green Egg?

Bge all day. Kamado grills are good for grilling, smoking, searing, baking. You can use them in any weather. Theyre extremely fuel efficient. No need to tend them once they're set. The list goes on......

I had a WSM and ended up wrapping it with a water heater blanket but the cooker still needed a lot of lump charcoal to keep food cooking in cold and windy weather. I sold it after I got my egg and life got a lot better. Another option, I'll also add that a drum smoker is a great cooker. Mine is insulated and I can cook in any weather. Wish I had my drum smoke a long time ago...but better late than never. The drum smoker is a traveler, another advantage over my heavy large egg which stays home.

Which would y'all rather own?

Do you plan on just smoking or want to grill also? They are 2 different animals . I own both, but if I could only have one it would be the egg for the versatility. So what do you need to cook? Big question there .

I want to grill and smoke. I like smoking butts, ribs, and chicken. Love grilling steak and burgers.

Why are the Eggs so much more than the other kamotos? Are they that much better??

Then egg is your cooker then . They really can do it all. Though I have grilled on my WSM in a pinch. I do use the WSM more when I smoke more meat. I like having both.

They've been around for a while and they pretty much have set prices that dealers are expected to charge. A lot of accessories, good customer service etc. Imho depending on the kamado brand they're not that much better. Kamadis essentially do the same thing. I actually went and looked at lbge and Vision kamadoas in person. Put two and two together and I liked my Vision PRo from HD better so I picked it at almost half price and accessories included. Right now costco(if u have one around) has the classic Vision on sale foe 399. Comes with the nest, side shelves. 304 ss heavy duty dual grates, cover. They also have excellent service and most other brand kamado accessories fit. You may want to check it out. I'm now on the hunt for a larger kamado since I want to up my game and need more cooking space so I'm looking at KJ Big Joe or Primo oval xl. Imo the Vision kamado is a great grill and good to start with.

they aren't more expensive than many of their well established counterparts, they are priced in the same range as Primos, Kamodo Joes & Grill Domes, and if you buy one at an eggfest it will be priced even lower than those mentioned.

As for being better, no, I don't believe they are better or worse than any of their competitors. It's all enhanced clay like stuff at the end of the day so they are all well insulated, generally they're all offered in the same sizes & most accessories are interchangeable. True the dealer network & the warranty may give them some advantages, but those things don't make your brisket taste any better...
