Straightening A Temperature Probe

My digital thermo has a curved probe, like most of the probes. Any reason I can't straighten it out? I was planning on using a tubing bender, so as not to flatten it. Any reason I shouldn't do it? I was thinking about it for ease of placement for cook chamber placement.

Bending it could fark up the its innards.

i've thought of doing it also but kinda worried about the inside construction. if its insulated with some kind of sealer, bending it could short things out. if not then it should be ok. wish someone had a defective one that could be taken apart to see.
