Hi,

I stopped by this place in Wantaugh yesterday. It's the location where Smokey's Rib Pit used to be.

I had the chili and the brisket sandwich. The total was about 16 bucks.

The sauce came in three varieties. Base, sweet and spicy. The sauce was good.

The brisket didn't have a detectable smoke ring, but was tasty and moist.

The sandwich was plentiful and enjoyable. The home made potato chips that came with them were very nice, but a little over salty. The coleslaw was so-so.

The chili was pretty bland and needed more flavor (not necessarily more heat).

They claim to smoke everything on premises.

Worth going back another time to check it out again.

Eric

Stopped ther for dinner 2 weeks ago with the family. Nice folks that own it. It was a good meal but I would not consider it BBQ. They do have a cookshack cooker there but i am not sure if they actually use it or just dont know how to use it correctly., The food had no smoke. The pulled pork was tasty but no bark and drowned in a mixture of possibly fat and apple juice. Do you think those chips were home made? If they were hot i would think so but they were ice cold and seemed like they were out of a bag. The sauces were also cookshack sauces. I will have to go back and try the ribs get a better idea. Do ntot order the crab cake appetizer. As you can see in the oic below it is basically a frozen crabcake fried and then some dressing on top. At 12.95 i felt like i got ripped. ALl of the other sandwicjes were aroung $8 Here are some pics

Or you might want to stop by a place near the junction of 5th Ave and Sunrise Hwy in Bayshore. I've heard good things.

you would at least hope they would get use some good bread or rolls instead of using the same hero style bread that every deli on Long Island uses for their lunch sandwiches.

I think I'll pass.
