Default My First GC And 180 Perfect Score

Competed in a fun backyard warm up contest this past weekend. 12 teams with open judging so you can hear what the judges have to say about your entries. Chicken and Ribs were KCBS presentation style, and then we also had to do Tri-Tip and a Mystery Meat. The mystery meat turned out to be pork tenderloin and we had to use jalapenos and an item from the backyard (there were orange and lemon trees and an herb garden). The Tri-Tip and Mystery Meat were "anything goes" presentation and we only used items we had brought with us or found in the yard. No trips to the store.

We had a ton of fun, met a lot of great folks and learned a lot in the process.

My results:

Chicken - 2nd Place
Ribs - 1st Place
Tri-Tip - 1st Place (180 score!)
Mystery Meat - 2nd Place

Here are my pics...what do you think?

Chicken:

Ribs:

Mystery Meat (Pork Tenderloin):

And perfect score Tri-Tip:

Oh, and my daughters made Piggy Cupcakes for the crowd:

And here is the "Money Shot" of the team with the GC trophy. My wife Sherry, Myself, my daughter Jocelyn and my buddy Butch. Couldn't have done it without them!
