Default What's up with Stagecoachs' prize money?

A buddy of mine that was at Havasu told me that they're changing the prize money to $5,000 and are limiting the contestants????

$25,000 advertised prize money to $5,000 is a pretty big drop.

May be what some other contests are doing -- which is only "guaranting" $5000 -- to avoid having to put up a huge bond for something they may not have yet or just to keep ahold of the cash...

2 words cluster-F*%K ! For one thing they couldn't get many people to sign up at either $750 entry or the vending $1250 price ! We did it 3 years in a row,it used to be good, not anymore.Anyone want to do it better do it,it won't be there next year !

The "Mane Stage" was moved to the space our contest has been in the last two years
due to the Cities safety concerns for the crowd, 65,000 each day last year.
They tried to fit us into an area along side on the food court and general admission seating. The contest just would not fit in there. Complete cancelation was considered,
I presented a proposal to refund ALL the teams entry fees and modify the event plan.
We are now in the same location we were at during SC One. Tomorrow we will measure the area to see exactly how many teams will fit in that space. I know 15 will,
our goal is 25 plus and keep our qualifier for the Sunday KCBS Championship Series
CBBQA ToY contest. Saturday we will do the KCBS Competitor Series Sanctioned Western Rib Championship.
ALL the teams that had already paid have decided to compete in the new lower cost cook offs.

Best of luck to you Thom. Believe me I know from first-hand experience how unpleasant it is to have the rug pulled out from under you as a contest organizer! It sounds to me like you are handling things professionally and doing your damndest to make the best out of the situation. No KCBS cook or judge could ask for more.
California is lucky to have you, sir.
