Default Ique on a BWS - anybody ever done it?

I'm wondering if the fan is overkill for the BWS? Also, I have read where a smoker can draw through the IQue even when it's not running. I should add I've been running the BWS without water to better imitate a stick burner, and the least amount of draw can send temps through the roof if not adjusted in time!
