Was wandering how many of the brethren comp teams are husband/wife and or with immediate family. If y'all got some pics I would like to see them.
A little story about our BBQ team and how we first started. After our very first comp, we were hooked, only got 1 walk 3rd ribs out of 43 shoulda been two walks but that will come in a sec. Friday night was chefs choice and I cooked my bad ass smoked chicken lasagna on the traeger. So we go up for trophies and they say get out your red ticket. my gf at the time who is now my wife looks at me all crazy, "what did you do with the ticket?" she says. "i didnt see no ticket!" Apparently your supposed to take the Untaped ticket half off! the organizer came to us and said "damn that lasagna was good, and woulda won but we had to DQ you since you left your ticket in the box." Saturday morning IE still Friday night for me  my wife drives up and all I hear with my foot bein shaken crazily "hey, you were supposed to had the meats on 2 hours ago! What time is it? 8! My buddies and I partied till bout 5 when we finally passed out. I was asleep in the back seat of my truck with it running a/c wide open, foot hangin out the door, and didn't feel like Cookin anything. The sight of food made me wheezy! Still hadn't done any prep or seasoning yet for the brisket ribs and chicken. Placed near the bottom on chicken and brisket but that 1 walk got us hooked. From there on out we got a little more serious each one bit never too serious. Finally after 3 years of fun and wasting money IMO we got serious and decided to do some local non sanctioned cook offs that paid well and the other half sanctioned. We were getting occasional walks and occasional top 3's in those 3 years. Now in our 4th season we went all out. New Pitmaker, new uds, all guru controlled, semi used Motorhome, Time sheets, prep times, marinade times, foil times etc. no heavy drinking Friday night, in bed by 10 with all prep work done. Saturday no drinking till the last turn in, clean up then I can party. It has worked out so well and she loves doing cook offs with me and I couldn't do our processes without her. I'm Justin Margist and we have been competing seriously for 5 months. In our past 7 cook offs with 38-120 entry field, we have gotten 2gc's and 3 reserve GC's with brisket being our strong categeory of 1st, 1st, 4th, 1st, 2nd, 1st, 1st. Chicken always in the top 5 and ribs which used to be our best turn in, somewhere in the top 10. We missed a lot of GC's because of ribs a while back, but as of our last 3 comps, we got it pretty well all pieced together! Now my chefs choice entries are In the toilet lol. That's my story, anyone else wanna share their story, I would love to hear it!

We are a family team. I will work to post a pic sometime.
We won the chicken category in our first comp. It was funny, because we just knew chicken would be our worst meat that day.

After turn ins they had a peoples choice, so we put some food out. My daughter who is an expert on the quality of pulled pork, walked around, sampled some comes back and said "dad this guys is the winner" Sure enough, she was right. All at the age of nine.

We're a family team - My wife, father-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, and sometimes our 6 year old daughter.

From this past weekend:

My wife and I are a team most times. I also have a friend that cooks with us occasionly. I enjoy cooking with my wife we make a good team. We have had some success in bar cook offs but not to much in the sanctioned cook offs. We always have a great time and have met alot of people.

It is just my wife and I for our team as well. I did have a friend from church help me last year at a comp because the wife took the kids to a karate contest.

I'm with Podge, I couldn't ask for a better team mate or a worse critic! LOL

No pics handy, but just my wife and me. We have some friends that will help when they can; that has only been 1 out of the 4 comps we have entered. We always plan on doing everything ourselves. Wheeling the Fat Boy in and out of a U-Haul trailer is also interesting.:wacko:

For me, doing most of the work sure makes for a LONG day on Saturday and and even LONGER drive home. (Getting old and out of shape is helll!)

My husband and I are a team, with his best friend that is basically family. My husband and I started cooking together 2 years ago and just started competiting this year. We balance each other well in life and in BBQ :)

It's me and my wife. When we lived in NC we would have her parents come as well or a couple of close friends to help out, but everything comes down to her and I. I wouldn't change it for a thing in the world.

My wife can't stand BBQ. But she comes with my kids to support. Besides not sure we'd get anything done if we had to team up. Two strong wills=bad team.

Our team is currently my husband and I.

We've been involved in competition BBQ in one way or another since 2009 but went out on our own in 2011. We love that we have this opportunity to spend time together and with our friends, and we've found that this experience has made our relationship stronger.

My Husband and I have been competing for a few years. Rich watched the BBQ comps on TV and said I'd like to try that. We started with some local competitions and did ok. Our first KCBS we walked with a 3rd in brisket and was hooked. My brother joins us when he can. Our goals at the competions is not to be DAL and to have fun. We always have a good time, rain or shine.

Wife and I cook. Plenty of friends to drink beer with and eat the leftover q. Never been skunked cooking with just her though. She's my good luck charm.
