Trailer Smoker Build Question
Hello, how far from the side of the firebox should the tires be? My axle will be between the firebox and cooking chamber, I just need to know how close is to
close. The axle I'm using will be shortened. I will be using fenders that have a shield on the inside facing the firebox. Thanks. |

I'm new here but I don't think you will have any luck getting smoker build tips around here unless you are making it out of an old toxic waste drum.

Not sure. But remember, those fenders will get hot as well.

Id saw as long as you have the sheild with fenders you'll be ok. Or you could just scrap the whole idea and build the end all be all of smokers (Just kiddin). I would love to see some pics tho.

IMO there is no set number but 'as far as you reasonably can' and the placement of shields and fenders is paramount and don't forget to mount a spare.

Having built one last year, I would make sure you had a fair amount of room from your firebox unless it is well insolated. the cooking chamber doen't get as warm and sheilds are not a bad idea.
