It is not a huge problem but lump is definitely less consistent than briquettes in the Lone Star. I think it has more to do with the irregular shapes of the pieces themselves and how it is loaded into the fire basket more than anything. When I had my Primo I saw the very same thing. I could achieve better consistency from cook to cook if I sorted the fuel and stacked it rather than just dumping it from the bag.

The builder of the cooker, Chris Goodlander does not recommend lump for this reason. He also does not recommend burning used fuel for the same reason. Terry Hoey and I burn used charcoal most all of the time and it works. Sure it is not as optimal as fresh new fuel but it does work.

I use natural briquettes in my insulated cabinets. No odors. No issues with temp fluctuations. I'm not a fan of chemicals.

Well I hope you like your Mini. Did it come on a full sized semi or a straight truck?

I noticed it doesn't have locking casters. Might have to see about an upgrade if they can? You better hope it don't roll away, and hit that yellow chick car behind it.

My son has a 97 SLP 30th anni with less than 50K on it.

Chris just told me a Double cart has already been ordered.

Thanks!

Chris doesn't have a locking caster system available. I have a set of 4 locking casters that I will be adapting to this smoker.

That chick magnet is my retirement present... I had a '69 when I was in high school that was full race and my pride and joy. When I hit 62 I decided I needed a fun ride.

They left the Mini at the shop for you, I needed the big one

Very nice. I just pulled 13 butts off of mine for a reception tonight. You are going to love it. Please let us know how it rolls and turn with those tires on the comp cart. I may have to see if I can add one to mine.

Well, I don't have much to compare to, but I was able to get it moved by my self from the driveway through the gate across about 40 yards of grass and on to a concrete patio slab without any help. The only difficulty was the times I needed to make a sharp change in direction from stopped, the casters were a bit stiff from a stop. Turning while moving was very easy, even on the grass.

Open question, but how do you all compare the insulated smoker to the LSG offset vertical? Other than size

Where did you find the casters at? Even one end that locked would be a plus.

Well I traded the mini off for a standard they had for someone else. Big Swole doesn't know yet, but they changed his order to the Mini.

Even with locking casters I still chock the wheels on my cabinet. If 425lbs takes off something is going to get damaged bad.

It looks great. I like that custom cart they have. If that was an option when I was buying mine, I would of likely got it. Enjoy the break it, and subsequent meals...it has a super easy learning curve to work it.
