What do y'all think of this rig? The underneath firebox makes me think that it would have a hot spot in the cooking area directly above it. There is an internal grill grate that can be raised and lowered as well.

Hey, that's my smoker.
I thought that the company had gone out of buisness.
I inherited one from my dad when he moved out of state.
I have been learning how to cook on it. I have made a charcoal basket for it. Mine has a heat shield in it that works like a drip pan.
It stays hotter on the left, above the fire box.
I have cooked 8 butts on it before.
My cooker doesnt have the grate that raises and lowers, just shelf racks.

The one that I looked at today also had the drip pan/heat shield combo deal going. The internal charcoal grate could be raised or lowered by turning the crank on the front.

It's $279.99 at Academy Sports. There is a link to it at the top of the original post in the thread.

The picture doesn't show it, but there is a vent on the outside of the firebox. There is a combo heat shield/drip pan under the cook chamber internal charcoal grate, and the internal grate can be raised or lowered with the crank handle on the front of the grill.

The one that I've got is built like a tank.
I added a few fire bricks inside the main chamber to help control heat.
That made it even heavier.
