Thats a neat one. I like the idea of thicker steel for cold weather smoking. But how you gonna seal the door on the side so it doesn't allow extra air to enter?

I put a 14 pd packer on last night around 8 PM. I put a full bag of Royal Oak in the basket along with some hickory and pecan chunks.

I brought Frank up to 250 and checked it again at 10PM, still 250. Went to bed and set my alarm for 3AM, still 250 with very light smoke, I added another half bag just to be safe. 6 this morning still 250.

I Love this beast so far. Gonna post pics later!!

I was wanting to give everyone an update on "Frank", the ugliest UDS Ever Made. I'm happy to report that I have took Frank to numerous BBQ comps throughout the year last year, and have placed very highly in both Brisket and Ribs. ( I save the chicken for the Kettle.) Frank is also great conversation piece. So for all of you pit builders out there whose final product scares small children and animals, do not be ashamed, instead rejoice in the fact that you're not alone, and that it is only what the final glorious BBQ that you create that really matters!!

In the picture I was using that pot to soak my wood chips. Although now I use chopped pecan logs, and I dont soak them.
