How many Butts to cook to make 300 sandwiches?

1/3 pound per serving x 300 sandwiches = 100 pounds of cooked pork. Figure 50% loss during the cook, that means you need 200 pounds raw. That would be 20 butts if they are 10 pounds each. More if they weigh less.

I think with 300 sammies you'll actually see less waster, maybe more like 60% yield. I'm going to guess about 160 pounds of raw x .60 = 96 pounds cooked at 5 oz sammies will give you about 4 pounds or a dozen sammies to spare. 200 cooked I beleive you'll get closer to 120 pounds cooked or about 384 sammies or about 30 plus % over you estimated need. i average out at 15 sandwiches per butt and it usually works.

i estimate at 4 ounce sammies. An 8 lb'er yields 4 lbs cooked, which is 16 sammies per butt. When i buy, i buy 15 lb packs and better. (boneless).

for 300, I would buy 20 butts. (300/15 sammies)
