[quote=Jeff_in_KC] seeing these rigs that cost multiple thousands of dollars, somehow the "primitiveness" of it all is lost in the checkbook! quote]

True dat! But the important thing is that we remember- and I think on some level, even if it's not conscious, even those with rigs worth thousands like BBQ for the same reason. It's primordial.

I agree with you guys and what you have written.

I love the whole process from the fire control to the foil.

Other than that, I agree that it is the combination of flavors, the texture, the smells, the smoke.....the whole package. Personally, though, I usually enjoy cooking it even more than eating it.....The time spent cooking is like meditation or something.....

I agree Matt...it's sharing your results along with whole package of the finished product,...but sometimes I don't like sharing and enjoy cooking alone without any distraction....

To me it's a lot of things:
  • A crappy piece of meat that's magically made into a wonderful meal
  • Q is eaten in big mouthfuls, with juice and sauce flying everywhere!
  • The crispy outside and the juicy inside work great together
  • The endless ways to prepare it
  • Smiles on the eaters' faces and the perked up ears of the dogs
And more!

For me it's all about the wonderful flavor of slow cooked, smoked meat.

It's all about getting chicks! Chicks dig big guys who consume mass quantities of slow cooked, smoke bathed pig and cow and the smell that we give off after a long day of drinking mass quantities and absorbing good hickory, cherry, apple, mesquite and oak smoke.

Bros, it's all about getting chicks!
